South Africa {part I of many more to come}

Traveling is a need now. Keeps me going, fills voids brought on by mundane goings on , brings joy and immense peace. And traveling with V is just wonderful because we are very very alike in how we like to travel. V’s last project was in South Africa. And we were lucky to get a chance to live there for 3 months. We felt a tie, a pull.. and we hope to be back there soon, in fact we have to stop ourselves from thinking of moving there. It’s just the most wonderful place really!

I had no idea on what to expect. Had never really heard much except about the safaris etc. But SA blew us away. From safaris to hidden romantic get aways, vineyards, whale watching, dolphins, nature reserves, ostriches, wild zebras, quaint eerie towns, friendly people, great food, awesome roads – it has everything. And we experienced it all.:)

Few hours away from Joburg is Kruger park and around it are many private reserves, one of these we picked for a three day weekend getaway. Run by Berry and Minneke – a lovely couple, The Kuname River Lodge http://www.kuname.co.za , is a must visit. Although they are not a huge establishment; with few rooms, amazing amazing food and wonderful service (specially loved how they had hot water bags and blankets to keep us warm during the safari), this place becomes very very special. We got upgraded to a honeymoon suite, with an open air bath which was very romantic and the food and wine were fab. Lots more pictures coming of the lodge and safari and more fun details too!

i like the originality in your photographs….lets get connected

Looking forward..

I have been missing in action on this blog for sometime. Was on a break (that’s what I like about managing my own time). But that can go totally wrong too you know – being on a break for a few days can then easily stretch into weeks and then months. It helps that I get asked, and told that some of you look forward to the posts and even quite miss the updates. So thanks.. if it wasn’t for that I would have taken even longer to wake up from my slumber.

I’m working on an exciting new project – a design blog, well, actually just a blog about everything else that I love – art, design, decor, food, typography, food.. you get the idea I am looking forward to it dearly and I can promise it will be a daily dose dose of inspiration and fun for all of YOU.

Meanwhile, I’m booking for weddings for this year in India and anywhere else. So if you want to book yours – mail me soon!

I’m also venturing into the art space and more news to come on that – sooner or later (I hope!)

I hope all of you have been well, and thank you for adding this blog to your favorites (if you haven’t – go do it now!) and visiting it often as you do. Some comments would be nice and NO, it’s NOT the same as getting them on facebook, coz if you comment here, it’ll be here forever, for me to cherish..:)

There.. enough said. Following set is from a set of pictures I took around winter… I wanted to have a take on beauty that can sometimes be rather sad… like a spring flower waiting for autumn..

alka.jitendra {rose garden, chandigarh}

Shooting with family or someone you know really well can be fun, but in my case, I always find it a little more tricky than otherwise. And specially when it comes to parents!:)I really wanted to get some good pictures of them, on a nice day we ventured out to the rose garden, in Chandigarh. They are a lot into plants and greenery and my dad probably knows names of all flowers and plants, anyways, so I really wanted to capture their love for the green.. but otherwise, they ignored all my directions and suggestions!!!:DBut was a great day!

Shruti - March 30, 2010 - 1:29 pm

Oh wow.. these photographs are absolutely beautiful Neha. You have captured the essence of your parents so well – their expressions are so wonderfully poignant of their feelings… their love of nature, their shyness around each other (even after so many years), their pride in you… I’m proud of you my friend! Keep clicking!

A more well planned, thought through, gorgeous and fun wedding is impossible to imagine! And so is a cuter couple! Anshum and Anshu compliment each other in more ways than just their names.:)The wedding took place in South Goa and everything about it was just perfect. The beach party was amazing and the location pretty much blew everyone’s mind away, it was that awesome!! The wedding ceremony took place on top of a hill, in a temple. Anshum looked super handsome in blue and beige and Anshu couldn’t have looked more delicate in her breezy flowy lehnga.

Also, got to meet a lot of INSEAD gang, and have loads and loads of awesome fun memories (those who know, know what those are!!) Thanks guys, love you both!!:)

Kudos on the last two pictures Neha. I don’t know how you captured them considering how much I was trying to hide and just literally ran away during the vidaai :)

Anshu - March 23, 2010 - 9:23 pm

You surprise me with each new picture!
It’s one thing to capture the moment and another to make what you make out of them.
Wedding pictures are so special and to have such masterpieces from a friend has truly touched me deeply!
I absolutely love each picture you have here! A bunch of love to you and a huge thank you!

A portrait session I did recently. The quirky socks, the trade mark kohl smeared eyes and the fact that she’s my darling little sister made it all very very special!:)
